This morning, I woke up to Mariah Carey’s Hero song playing in my head. I have not heard the song in decades, but I know that sometimes the angels will message me through songs, therefore, I make it a point to re-listen to the lyrics of the song so as to awaken the message I am to receive.
These days, there is a lot of messaging about heroes and who they are. Accolades are generally given to those who dutifully follow what they are told, and rarely do they measure the commands they are given against their own intuition and moral compass. They simply do as they are told and are happy to receive their little raises and plaques.
A kindly woman once advised me to never expect validation from others. She said that I was unlikely to receive it and I agreed with her. It is only normal for all humans to desire validation, and many consider the lack of it as a signal of their own deficiencies rather than the deficiencies of a society rought with jealousy and corruption. When you dare to be different, to walk your own unique path and align to the purpose of your creation, you will be met with resistance by others who have decided not to grow.
Growth is never an easy thing. When I look out at the trees in my garden, I know that they are striving and working hard to evolve and support life. I tell myself that I should be no different from nature. There is time to rest, time to play and time to work hard. As seeds push against the soil to make its way out towards the light, so also must I strive to expand the light within until it shines through my dense body.
Many people prefer to hear good news and tales of better times ahead. But the entire purpose behind living is to become a hero. This is the most important thing you can do. Is to make the heroic choice when faced with the yin and yang, light and dark of existence. The fabric of reality really is a backdrop to lead a life of valor in the face of adversity. Make this your choice and your destiny and quest and life will have far more meaning than if you had no opposition and only a smooth easy road ahead of you.
Yes, the hero lies in each of us.
Have a blessed week.
